If the tunnel closes, you’re stuck there…end of story. Can you say claustrophobic mystery? One entrance in the town, one entrance out. This was an easy and overall enjoyable read that will be perfect do drop in your beach bag.Ĭity Under One Roof by Iris Yamashita offered a crazy good mystery set in a fictional town where everyone lives in one building. Henry does know how to make a strong sizzle between characters and the intimate scenes were done well. Perhaps it’s what the author intended this but still, it bugged me. She was caught between being book smart strong and common sense weak. The trope worked, and I enjoyed the banter between all of the characters, however I felt that Harriet (the MC) needed more fleshing out as a character. The main storyline revolves around Harriet and Wyn, the perfect couple that broke of their engagement and have yet to share this news with friends or family. Their times together were some of the strongest parts of the book. It also had a strong emphasis on a group of friends that bonded during college. I liked that the story focused on more than romance.

It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Because the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Which is how they find themselves sharing the largest bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. And still haven’t told their best friends. Except, now-for reasons they’re still not discussing-they don’t. Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college-they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls.
